The ski resort of Abetone includes 50 km of ski slopes. The snow is guaranteed by a modern artificial snow system. There are over 20 ski lift system among the most modern serving black, red and blue tracks. There are some school areas for beginners and many sky schools for adults and kids who want to learn to descent safely along the tracks.
Ski is certainly the most practiced activity on the slopes but do not lack even right spaces for snowboard fans and cross country ski fans. For the first ones are organized snow-park of high quality with obstacles of various level of difficulty to please every level of experience. The second ones have instead at their disposal two splendid tracks that run right in the middle of the woods letting them enjoy the silence of the valley.
Some tracks are perfect for the discipline of ski-mountaineering, in particular in the Valley of Sestaione you can find ascents and descents suitable for every level of experience.
The ones who want to spend some hour of fun with the whole family in the tranquility of the woods can chose to venture along the trails with the snowshoes or “Ciaspole” that prevent sinking in the snow up to the knees. This is an activity suitable for all, adults and kids, but if you are not familiar with maps and signals is better to be accompanied by an expert guide.
The ski season at Abetone is livened by competition, events and demonstration of ski masters on the snow. Is good to remember in particular the awaited event “Pinocchio on the ski”, a national and international race between the youngest categories that traditionally close the season.
